Targeted Professional Development
Targeted Professional Development for classroom teachers in kindergarten through 3rd grade includes:
Early Childhood Literacy
- The Texas Education Agency requires each teacher and principal in kindergarten through 3rd grade to send Reading Academies. Pleasant Grove ISD kindergarten through 3rd grade reading teachers will complete the academy during the 2021-2022 school year. All remaining kindergarten through 3rd grade teachers will complete the academy during the 2022-2023 school year. New staff will enroll and complete during Year 1.
- Pleasant Grove ISD will continue Literacy training in grades PreK-12. The district Literacy Coordinator will continue to provide ongoing support through the planning, modeling, and coaching loop.
Early Childhood Math and College, Career, and Military Readiness
- Teachers will regularly engage in job-embedded, ongoing professional learning through the Professional Learning Community model.
- Content area training will be provided based on grade level/content area needs.
