Mrs. Shelby L. Strebeck
Shelby Strebeck is a veteran teacher who holds a Master of English and a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University at Texarkana. She also holds teaching certificates in Texas and Arkansas. She is working on her 23rd year in the classroom, and throughout the years she has taught Pre-AP sophomore English, senior English, freshman English, ACT prep courses, Summer School, College Preparatory Education Course, STAAR tutorials, Character Education, and REACH, which is a college preparatory and mentoring program for prospective first generation college students.
Outside of the classroom she has served on a local High School Discipline Review Board, Campus Quality Improvement Committee, and facilitated students who serve incoming freshmen at Tiger Camp. She has managed student community service at Harvest Texarkana, Nash food pantry, and the Battered Women’s Shelter. She has helped students create a legacy by collaborating with Southern Arkansas University to create a mural on campus. She has been a leader and mentor to young women in the Beautiful “U” mentor program that teaches self worth.
Shelby has been selected two years in a row out of 150 of the best teacher leaders in Texarkana to attend ECET (Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers). She currently serves on its committee. She is also a Google classroom facilitator, PLC facilitator, and staff development facilitator.
Shelby has been married to her highschool sweetheart Tim for 37 years, and has three married children: Brooke and Stephen Ferguson, Heather and Richard Kroll, and Ryan and Paige Strebeck. The highlight of her life are her grandchildren: Chance, Zeth, Avie, and Lincoln. Apart from family she enjoys fishing, gardening/landscaping, refurbishing old stuff, and more fishing.
